I have 6 year old Maytag Atlantis (top load washer, front load dryer) and have had several problems with both. I don't want to put anymore money into repairs, so I'm shopping for new. Help...

top load and cheaper too. Although you save water with a front load.

GE launches new washer and dryer production

General Electric Co. unveiled the production of a new high-end, front-loading washing machine and dryer with an event on Monday morning.

The initial production run of the new products marks the first time GE has produced a front-loading washing machine and matching dryer at one of its U.S. plants.

“These products represent a $100 million investment and 200 GE jobs,” Chip Blankenship , CEO of GE Appliances , said during the event.

The new products were the latest example of reinvestment by GE (NYSE: GE) in Appliance Park, where a new water heater, dishwasher, refrigerator and top-loading washing machine have been launched in the last year or so.
